This happens when the hair comes into contact with the UV filter Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (BMDBM), also known as Avobenzone. Unfortunately, this ingredient is nowadays used in many day creams and sunscreens.

The ColorRestore Spray from Global Extend is the ideal solution to effectively remove orange discolouration from extensions. Discolouration caused by the ingredient Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (found in most sunscreens) is now a thing of the past. This spray was developed for extensions and restores the original hair colour without damaging the extensions.

The ColorRestore spray removes the orange tint and returns your extensions to their original colour.
Please only treat the discoloured areas!
After treatment with the ColorRestore spray, the extensions should be washed with a mild shampoo. A moisturising hair mask should be used afterwards.

Preparation & application:

Before use, remove the extensions and place them in a suitable container.

Application:

Please shake well before use.
Pour enough ColorRestore into the chosen container so that the hair is completely covered by the solution.
Leave it in for about 15 minutes. Check the result after this time.
If the orange tint is still visible, leave the hair in the solution for another 15 minutes.
Rinse the hair thoroughly with water. Afterwards, we recommend washing your hair with a conditioning shampoo, using a hair mask and massaging a few drops of hair oil into the ends.

Please note:

If no other option is available, the Color-Restore Spray can be used while the extensions are still attached to your own hair. However, you must be careful not to get it on the bonds. Spray the solution onto the orange areas and continue with step 3.
Avoid contact with eyes. If the product does get into your eyes, rinse them immediately with plenty of water. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.
Contact of the product with clothing, upholstery, floors, etc. should be avoided.

Why do extensions become discoloured?

There are many causes that can lead to discoloured hair. Various environmental influences as well as contact with various substances can lead to discolouration. A common trigger is the UV filter Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (also called 'Avobenzone'), which is contained in many sunscreens and other lotions. This ingredient reacts with chemically treated hair and leads to unwanted colour casts, especially with blonde or light extensions.
Unfortunately, this can happen simply by applying sunscreen and letting your hair rest on your skin. This is why discolouration often only occurs at the tips of the hair. Avobenzone can now also be found in many day creams/body lotions and similar products that are supposed to protect the skin from UV radiation.

Long heat exposure can also lead to discoloured extensions, as strong heat attacks the colour pigments. In the case of such damage, the product will probably not work effitiently. To prevent discolouration caused by heat, please use a maximum of 180°C when styling as well as a high-quality heat protection spray.
